*Civilization 1*
Back when this game came out I still thought pc games were all about solitaire and free cell on windows. Boy was I wrong. This game came along and shattered my perceptions, keeping me up till 1am even though I was in primary school. Suffice to say I got in trouble with my parents. That was until my dad tried the game and started staying up till 6am playing it (getting in trouble with mum as a result). Just...one...more...turn...

Great write-up! I was disappointed in Capcom's move to 3D as well and am anticipating this game like no other!

I don't really see how the year of release takes anything away from a good composition. The PS2 generation was the first time gaming music was taken seriously, with real budgets and full orchestral compositions becoming standard. Needless to say this lead to an overwhelming number of excellent soundtracks.
It's a little like turning up the day after Super Mario Bros was released and saying it had a substandard soundtrack just because it was new.

Screwattack put their list together with slightly different criteria in mind. The audience for Screwattack is very clearly the retro gamer since they have shows like AVGN and their Top10s and Armory always have a retro perspective. Their Top 10 gaming music list reflects their audience.

I think the ability to kick players is vital. I'd be happy if it just showed "Challenger" and their ping so you could weed out 0/1 bar challengers.

If the ping is good, I'll happily play the same person over and over, regardless of how bad they're beating on me - you learn a lot more than farming red Kens over and over...

Side note: Championship request arcade mode seems to deliver me Aus-ping players about half the time. A much better signal to noise than searching for games.

HD Remix was made in the States I believe, SF4 was done by the Japanese team. After all UDON did the HD Remix art, and they even went to Tony Cannon who did GGPO for help with the netcode. Capcom USA and JPN have always been leaps and bounds apart, most of their development is done by the JPN team.

It seems odd to me that Capcom would put together REALLY good features into Turbo HD Remix but leave a majority of those features out of their primary game.... There needs to be more communication between their development teams...

You don't necessarily have to base the movie in the same plot and character. A Bioshock movie would work well in the world of Rapture because its a rich environment with strong backstory. The strength of Bioshock is in the setting, which would translate very well into movie form if they had the budget or the inclination.

Bioshock and Halo...see these are tricky ones. They essentially revolve around mute characters running around and killing things for the entire game, something that just doesn't work for a movie. I heard that the Halo movie wasn't going to be from the POV of Master Chief. For Bioshock, the only 2 characters that Jack interacts with for the entire game are Atlas and Tenembaum, neither of which you really see much in the actual game. This means some tricky editing is needed, I'm not too confident that they will be able to get this right.
